14 july 2016
These art works were created during a period of fifteen years in the South-Selian region where the river Memele marks the border between Latvia and Lithuania. The sparkling ice crystals twinkle during the spring floods; in managing to capture this, an unusal world of images is revealed.

The melting substance transforms into a kind of painting, water colour or graphic image resulting from the artist's thanksgiving to the great and eternal Creator of all this beauty. These pieces of art are like a small piece of the beauty of nature captured and offered to others in love.

Each of them in essence is unique, representing a momentary revelation with the power to enlight and relieve longstanding burdens. Glittering nuances of rainbow colours, reflect the interaction of the sky and the sun and constantly changing water. The ice melting in warm sunbeams changes its shape and transforms into its primary substance. It simply flows away. Each of these designs is a unrepeatable representation of a unique natural phenomenon.

These art works were created at frozen meadows, watching the waterfall of the tiny Milupite, Memele tributary, exploring thick or extremely thin ice layers or pieces of ice and by forming frozen flower installations. They are all birthed slowly always and only in sun light, with care and persistence, observing and searching these games of nature sometimes for several days until the artist's intuition tells the camera the right time to shoot. All this work has been created as the result of prayer - as icons, and therefore reflects peace and harmony.
